Bentley Priory HQ of RAF Fighter Command

Bentley Priory HQ of RAF Fighter Command.
Bentley Priory Fighter Command, perfect companion visit to the Battle of Britain Bunker in Uxbridge and not too far away either. You could do both in a day if you had an early start.
A little known grade II listed country house located in Stanmore just north of Harrow. It played a pivotal role in the Battle of Britain as headquarters of Fighter command. Tactics developed here led to victory in the air in the summer of 1940. I loved the little video projection on show on what was Air Chief Marshall Sir Hugh Dowding‘s office called ‘The One Behind The Few’. The round rotunda room with the skylight is worth the admission fee all on it’s own. Well worth a visit.
