100 years…

100 Years.

Been meaning to take another trip to R.A.F. Hendon asthis year it’s 100 years of the R.A.F. Such a great place to visit for an aero geek like myself and free entrance but they do charge for parking. Claude Graham White was one of the first British aviators. He earned Royal Aero Club certicate number 6 issued in 1910. Graham White bought the site in 1911 and set up a flying school and then an aircraft factory. The site was later acquired for the R.A.F. They’ve done a fabulous job dismantling, moving and rebuilding the Graham White Hangar. They had to as the land it stood on was sold to developers. If it was to survive it needed a new location on the museum’s site. Now it houses a lot of the earlier aircraft they have in the collection. Well worth a visit if you’re in north London.
