The Worlds End

The Worlds End…
Not far from where I live there was a fenced off deserted street on the old RAF camp. Rumour had it bats were living there so they hadn’t been redeveloped, I have no idea if that was true. Whenever I passed it always caught my eye as it could’ve been a nice street if it wasn’t abandoned.
I didn’t register at first time I saw the film but the post apocalyptic scene near the end where Martin Freeman is selling houses always bothered me more than it should’ve. It just looked a little too familiar. A couple of views of the film (it’s one of my favourites) and then it all clicked. This street is where that scene in The Worlds End was filmed.
I do remember the parade ground at the old RAF camp being full of vehicles for filming a year or so before the film came out. If I’d have known I would’ve been over there with my camera.
UPDATE 9 June 2018
Walked my youngest to a local school for his weekly music lessons and after he’d gone I walked past the street again. It would seem it’s days are numbered as the developers have moved in…
